CM’s speech at Telangana Martyr’s Meeting – Highlights:
- We celebrated formation day celebrations on a grand scale. On the last day of the celebrations, we paid tributes to the Martyrs in a befitting manner.
- Bowing my head for coming and lighting lamps and paid homage to the Martyrs.
- The history of Telangana state movement is long. At the time of the merger of the state, many conspiracies took place. We fell prey to the hope that something good would happen.Telangana encountered many problems from them.
- The Telangana movement started in Yellandu of Khammam district. It started in 1965 and 1966. The movement spread the universities in 1967. Brave people like Swami Goud, TNGOs, workers and teachers all involved in the movement in the 58-year-old union state even in the oppressive conditions of those days.Telangana leaders experienced many types of cases, many types of harassment, PD acts, and job rejections.
- When people like the then TNGO leader Amos were sacked from their jobs under the MISA Act, a businessman named Badri Vishal Pitti carried buckets and collected money from the shopkeepers to support their families. Our TNGOs have fought such a great fight.
- From then, students also fought.
- At the beginning of the movement, we brainstormed with a handful of people like Prakash, former Assembly Speaker and MLC Madhusudanachari. We met many people with the intention of achieving the state.
- On that occasion we met Professor Jaya Shankar who adopted two pronged strategy. One is achieving Telangana state instrument and the other one is to observe fasting completely on Saturday.
- We asked Jayashankar sir what happened after the 1969 movement. They used to say that they used to go to meetings and talk about whether a person like KCR would come.
- During this time the Left parties also gave life to the movement. Many efforts have been made to keep the Telangana Mahasabha and Telangana Janasabha movement alive and to instill that spirit and consciousness in the society as much as possible.
- After the beginning of the second phase movement, we decided not to let the students come in the first stage, not to sacrifice our employees ourselves, but to go to the people and move forward in the spirit of democracy. Most of these decisions are unknown to anyone.
- We have seen many experiences. We have seen many types of debates, arguments, violence, police firing, death of around 400 people in 1969, and the movement was watered down.
- We have kept this immortal flame in our hearts forever. A hall has been constructed in this so that the names of the martyrs will be in our thoughts forever. Some friends and journalist friends helped in this direction.
- We have collected photos of 1969 movement. And the rest will also be collected and decorated in a special place with the names of the martyrs. Because the movement must be eternal. It is special.
- 1969 showed some trend of violence.
- Sri Konda Laxman Bapuji was the first one who sacrificed his post for Telangana. Their house was right here next to the Jaladryshyam. We set up an office there and started the work.
- On the occasion, we won over two Zilla Parishads and 100 Mandal Parishads in Local Body elections and set up training camps in Pochampadu.
- The then government acted harshly and destroyed the furniture and the office building here. Thinking of building a martyr’s memorial at the same place, we built Amara Jyothi at Jala Drushyam.
- We resigned countless times from our positions. Countless resignations were made from minister, deputy speaker positions, MLA, Union minister and parliament member positions.
- We have faith in Telangana society and people that is why we quit the posts. We used resignations as weapons and moved forward with new strategies. We moved forward non-violently with the inspiration given by Mahatma Gandhi.
- The attack on me by anti Telan forces unionists would not have happened to any leader in the world. However, I was never hurt. I thought that these curses were blessings because I was fighting for my people, but I did not feel sad about them.
- Jayashankar, myself, Swami Goud, and friend Devi Prasad all together conducted Udyoga Garjana in Siddipet. On my return, I warned that if the then CM Roshaiah brought a presidential order 14F and prevented us from getting jobs in Hyderabad city, I would strongly protest and stage fast unto death.
- Launched do or die movement and many joined. Doctors warned me that if I go into a coma, I will never recover. Then the Delhi government came down with the protests of the students and people in support of me and put it up for discussion in the Lok Sabha. I saw this moment while on hunger strike in NIMS Hospital. I withdrew fast after Parliament debates the Telangana issue assured the creation of Telangana state.
- The whole of India saw what efforts were made by the anti Telangana forces to stall the Telangana formation till the last minute.
- We wanted to achieve the state of Telangana non-violently without shedding a single drop of blood and without harming anyone. During my hunger strike, the movement took a strange turn and some were brutally victimized. They sacrificed their lives thinking that Central Government would open their eyes when the lose their lives.
- Based on the information received, we have given employment to the families of six hundred immortals. We gave ten lakh rupees for the house. Houses are also provided for the homeless. If there is anyone left, we will help generously. There is no problem with that.
- The sacrifices of the children of Telangana saddened me. Even if I was personally persecuted, I was not hurt. The sacrifices of Telangana children hurt me.When I went to Malaysia, China and Singapore, I saw the memorials built for the martyrs there and thought to build a unique memorial for the Telangana martyrs.
- As expected, friends Ramana Reddy and engineers all worked together to create Amarula Jyoti in a wonderful way.
- The government will take steps to put the history of Telangana in a comprehensive way, a photo gallery and the history of Telangana movement.
- We are making great progress in the Telangana state.
- No one could have imagined that our state would make so much progress in such a short period of time.
- TOday we are number one in many things in the per capita and surpassed the expectations of all on Telangana growth. We are number one in per capita consumption of electricity, drinking water and providing irrigation water. In the production of paddy, Telangana produces as much grain as Punjab.
- After Telangana state achieved, we brought Dalit bandhu scheme to uplift the Dalits and guide the country.
- We have erected a 125 feet statue of Ambedkar to remind the world that Telangana came with the sacrifices of many people and to tell the world the principle of equality prophesied by Dr. BR Ambedkar. This whole area has been discovered as a unique place.
- The government is progressing by helping all the needy sections. I assure you that the Telangana government will move forward with exactly this spirit.
- Once again I pay my respects to the Telangana martyrs.
Jai Telangana
