Public Enterprises Department was established under G.O.Ms.No.491, G.A.(AR&T.I) Dept., Dt.19.11.1998 to plan and recommend the strategy of reforms in State Level Public Enterprises (SLPEs) and Apex Co-op Enterprises and oversees the implementation of Govt. decisions on restructuring and reforms in functioning of selected SLPEs & Coop Enterprises.

Public Enterprises Department was established under G.O.Ms.No.491, G.A.(AR&T.I) Dept., Dt.19.11.1998 to plan and recommend the strategy of reforms in State Level Public Enterprises (SLPEs) and Apex Co-op Enterprises and oversees the implementation of Govt. decisions on restructuring and reforms in functioning of selected SLPEs & Coop Enterprises. It also acts as a Nodal Agency for the formulation and implementation of policies relating to the SLPE reforms.The department also functions as an advisory department and renders advice to Government departments and enterprises on various governance matters relating to functioning of Boards, Personal & Establishment matters viz., staffing pattern, Cadre strength, recruitment, etc.
