Unveiling of the 125-foot-tall statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

World’s largest 125 feet DR BR Ambedkar statue unveiled in Hyderabad. CM Sri KCR and Amebdkar Grandson Sri Prakash Ambedkar participate in India’s biggest grand event.  

In tune with the vision of Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Telangana State wrote another new chapter in the history of the country. On the occasion of Dr. BR Ambedkar‘s birth anniversary, CM KCR unveiled 125 feet giant statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar which is considered as the biggest one in the world.   Thus Telangana, as an ideal, started a new era in India. Telangana witnessed a big platform to explain the neglect being faced by the Dalits and other communities due to the policies adopted by the successive governments at the centre in the presence of Ambedkar.      

CM, accompanied by Ambedkar’s grandson Sri Prakash Ambedkar who is the chief guest, started from Pragati Bhavan at 3.15 pm and reached the venue on the banks of Hussein Sagar lake directly to unveil the statue. Buddhist Monks offered traditional prayers and invited CM KCR. Reaching on the stage, CM KCR and Prakash Ambedkar have a glimpse of the statue.    

On this occasion, the Chief Minister went over the giant flower garland specially decorated to the statue of Ambedkar. They inquired about the way the surroundings are decorated and beautified along with garlands. CM KCR congratulated Ministers Sri V Prashant Reddy and Sri Koppula Eshwar and expressed satisfaction for making grand arrangements to unveil the statue.

After that flower petals are showered from the sky by a specially arranged Chopper. The CM paid tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar while chanting Jai Bheem when rose petals are falling on the statue amid big applause from people.

Later, the CM inaugurated the base building where Ambedkar’s statue is erected from the hands of Prakash Ambedkar. After reaching the statue stage,  monks offered prayers in the Buddhist tradition to the  Ambedkar statue made with marble. CM participated in the special prayers.

Later, CM KCR, Ministers, People representatives, Chief Secretary and other top officials visited the photo exhibition on Ambedkar and glanced at the photos with enthusiasm. CM KCR recalled the historical occasions while discussing with Prakash Ambedkar at the exhibition. From there, the CM and Prakash Ambedkar reached the auditorium and watched a documentary – Atmabandhu Ambedkar. CM KCR expressed his satisfaction after watching the documentary which included the life story of Ambedkar, his services to the country of India, the details of the revolutionary schemes like Dalit Bandhu implemented by the Telangana government with the inspiration of Ambedkar to the upliftment of Dalits. After that, CM KCR, accompanied Prakash Ambedkar, reached the stage of the public meeting. When the CM reached the stage, audience chanted Jai Bheem Jai Telangana Jai KCR slogans. The entire premises is reverberated with their slogans.

The public meeting is started with the welcome address by State Chief Secretary Smt. Santhi Kumari. The Chief Secretary explained the planned efforts put by CM KCR to install the 125 feet statue of Ambedkar. People gave a big applause when the chief secretary said the weather turned cool on the day of the statue unveiling in the hot summer with God’s mercy. 

SC Welfare Minister Sri Koppula Eshwar explained the action plan for the statue unveiling taken up by SC Development Department.

Later, Ambedkar’s Grandson and former Lok Sabha MP Sri Prakash Ambedkar spoke. Prakash said that CM KCR will emerge as the future national leader. The development of Telangana has become an example and role model for the country. He praised CM KCR for running the state administration in line with Ambedkar’s aspirations. Prakash Ambedkar said that it is a great moment that the Telangana government is celebrating Ambedkar’s birthday in a true sense.

After that, CM gave his message. SC Development Secretary Sri Rahul Bojja concluded the meeting with a vote of thanks.

  26. Ambedkar is the Universal Man   
  27. The theory proposed by Ambedkar is universal.
  28. The theory is not limited to one town, one state of one country.
  29. Dr. BR Ambedkar is a beacon of hope for downtrodden communities all over the world.
  30. The Indian Constitution authored by Ambedkar completed e 75 years. We were confined only to celebrated Ambedkar birthdays. Is there any activity in the direction Ambedkar has shown? We should all think.
  31. Ambedkar’s statue is installed not by demand from others.
  32. There is a strong message in the installation of the statue of the great leader.
  33. Its location is not only a scenic spot but also adjacent to the Secretariat which is the state administrative building. The secretariat building also named after Ambedkar.
  34. There is also a Martyr’s Memorial in front of the Secretariat. Next to it, in the middle of Hussein Sagar, there is a Buddha statue that Ambedkar believed in.
  35. All these are wonderful and encouraging structures.
  36. Ambedkar’s statue, Martyrs’ memorial and Buddha statue will inspire everyone including Chief Minister, Ministers and Secretaries who come to the Secretariat every day. Everyone should be influenced by seeing Ambedkar.
  37. The statue is designed in such a way that Ambedkar‘s path should be followed. Telangana martyrs who have sacrificed their lives are an example.
  38. Quoted minister Harish Rao as saying It is not just an idol, but a revolution. The statue is a “Chaitanya Deepika” to the realization of Telangana’s dreams. That’s how we invented it.
  39. My heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone who was involved in the installation of the statue on behalf of the state government.
  40. Dalit intellectual Kathi Padmarao made a suggestion that the state government should give a permanent award in the name of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
  41. I hereby announce that Telangana Government will present an award in the name of Ambedkar. Will issue orders immediately.
  42. Rs.51 crores will be deposited and the interest earned from it  Rs.3 crores will be used to present awards. Ambedkar awards are being given on every anniversary day to those who rendered the best services in the country and the state.
  43. Many parties have won, lost and the governments changed… From Kashmir to Kanyakumari today, it is a shame for all of us that Dalits are still poor. This situation must change.
  44. It is not winning the parties or lose. People should win in politics and the Dalit intelligentsia should think in this direction.
  45. Before the arrival of TRS party, another party ruled here for 10 years. They spent only Rs.16,000 crore for the development of Dalits.
  46. BRS government spent Rs 1,25, 062 crores in the ten years period. CAG also confirmed the official data.
  47. Telangana Government launched Dalit Bandhu a big empowerment programme not only in India but also in the world.  
  48. State Secretariat which is named after Dr. BR Ambedkar will be inaugurated on April 30.
  49. Above all these, Telangana Government has the honor of installing a towering statue of Ambedkar which is the largest statue in the world.
  50. Many parties create chaos and confusion. Dalit intelligentsia should think in such a way that all Dalit children can continue the journey towards realism.
  51. It takes confidence to say certain things. I returned to Telangana only after the Telangana Bill was passed in Parliament and Telangana State was formed.
  52. Prakash Ambedkar said Telangana CM has done many programs here and also in national politics.
  53. BRS party is expanded at the national level to do similar programs in national politics as well. Prakash Ambedkar said that all your blessings should be to the Chief Minister.
  54. I plead with confidence that in the next 2024 parliamentary elections, we are going to win and rule the country.
  55. Our enemies may not digest this.   
  56. People are extending support to BRS in Maharashtra and received overwhelming responses.  
  57. The popularity and patronage that is coming today in Maharashtra will continue in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal and everywhere.
  58. Surely our rule will come in India.
  59. After the formation of our government, Dalit Bandhu will be implemented nationwide and reach benefit to 25 lakh Dalit families every year. All the states will also get this facility.
  60. Ambedkar’s dreams are yet to be fulfilled. We all have a responsibility to fulfill. May his dreams come true. Many things as he thought have come true.
  61. In Telangana, 50,000 people got Dalit Bandhu benefits.
  62. Another 1.25 lakh people will get benefits in this financial year. Request all the leaders and officials to take full advantage of this.
  63. It is proud to have created a magnificent statue of role model Ambedkar which is not found anywhere else in the country. At this point, I would like to say that I am blessed to have had this opportunity.
  64. In the future, I will fight till the last drop of blood to put not only Telangana state but also India on the right path. I would like to inform you that there is no compromise anywhere.

Highlights of the meeting:

  1. CM handed over the land documents to Narra Ravi Kumar, who is in charge of the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries. The government allocated the land to the organsiation to promote entrepreneurship among Dalits and work towards business and employment opportunities for them.
  2. CM released the video CD – ‘Dalitbandhu Vijayagathalu’ produced by SC Development Corporation through the hands of Prakash Ambedkar. CM felicitated Prakash Ambedkar and presented with a statue of Buddha.
  3. As soon as the CM started his speech, the audience started cheering. Ambedkar fans from many districts and other states, Dalit, Bahujan communities and others chanted the slogans of leader Jai KCR, Jai Bheem – Jai Bharat – Desh ki Neta . As the slogans were chanted for a few minutes, CM KCR joined them and chanted Jai Bheem slogans.
  4. Along with public representatives, professors, Dalit, Bahujan intellectuals and students participated in this programme on a large scale.
  5. The grand unveiling of the Ambedkar statue and the Ambedkar birth anniversary celebrations ended peacefully.
