Telangana State Cabinet Decisions – Highlights

Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri K.Chandrashekar Rao held State Cabinet meeting today at Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat. The Cabinet took several important decisions.
Hon’ble Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister Sri KT Rama Rao briefed the press about the decisions taken in the nearly 6 hour long cabinet meeting.

Cabinet Decisions – Highlights:

  • The Cabinet discussed the damages due to heavy rains. Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Hanmakonda, Nirmal, Adilabad, Khammam and Kothagudem districts are affected by heavy rains. Immediate relief provided to the affected people. R and B and Panchayat Roads and crops damaged. Canals and Bridges are reached.
  • Rs. 500 crore released for relief operations and repair of the damaged roads, temporary repairs of taken up on a war footing.
  • 27,000 people have been shifted to relief camps. Rehabilitation will be provided to all of them. Cabinet praised two officials of the State Energy wing and P Vinay for saving many lives during the heavy rains. They will be felicitated at Independence day celebrations on August 15.
  • Discussed Munneru vagu floods in Khammam and decided to construct RCC flood wall. Officials have been asked to finalize a report.
  • Since the monsoon delayed, it is decided to provide Seeds and fertilizers immediately to the farmers.
  • More than 40 died during heavy rains. Ex gratia will be given to their families. Crops were damaged and silt developed. The damage will be enumerated. Damaged culverts and roads will be repaired and make them motorable soon.
  • The Cabinet discussed the issue of absorbing TSRTC workers as government employees. The Cabinet took the decision to strengthen the RTC for public transportation. On sub- sub-committee with officials will study the demand to consider the TSRTC employees as government employees. 43,373 RTC employees will be treated as government employees. State Special Chief Secretary to Finance Ramakrishan Rao will be the head of the committee. R and b and Labour wing officials will be the members of the committee. One bill to promote RTC workers and Government employees will be introduced in the ensuing Assembly session.
  • Hyderabad is a global city and torchbearer. The Infrastructure needs to be improved. Public transport will be expanded to meet the growing demand. The Cabinet took some important decisions. Hyderabad Metro rail will be expanded in the next 3 to 4 years. Rayadurgam to Airport metro express on a 31 km stretch works tender process is in its final stage.
  • Cabinet approves Jubilee Hills bus stand to Tumkunta double decker metro rail and Patny to Kandlakoya double decker flyover. Defence lands will be acquired.
  • The new proposed metro rail networks are – Isnapur to Miyapur and Miyapur to lakdikapul, LB Nagar to Pedda Amberpet, Uppal to Bibi Nagar, Shamshabad airport to Shadnagar via kottur. Uppal to ECIL cross road. OId city metro rail works will start soon. It is a proposed metro rail from Airport to Kandukur around ORR. Cabinet approved the proposal to develop ner metro rail network at the cost of Rs. 69,000 crore on 400 km stretch additionally. The new network will be completed in 3 to 4 years time. Detailed proposals will be submitted soon. Other routes, if any, will also be connected. Public transport will be developed excellently. Hope Centre will help. If there is no support, the state will go alone. State government will pursue the centre. It will be a coalition government in 2024 and BRS will play a key role and seek the centre’s help.
  • The Cabinet discussed the three bills rejected by the Governor. The Governor system is being exploited and sent back the bills. The three bills related to Municipal Administration, Panchayat and Education will be adopted in the ensuing assembly session. Governor will have no role after the state government adopted the rejected bills for a second time.
  • In a humane approach, the State Government will take care of all orphan children and bring Orphan state policy. Government will take care of them and help them to develop. The cabinet sub-committee is already working on it.
  • Under Governor quota – Cabinet approved the name of B Satyanarayana from Erukala community (from ST) and D Sravan from BC community as MLC candidates under Governor quota. The cabinet gave its nod to establish a Horticulture college in Mahabubabad. Four TIMS super speciality hospitals are coming up on the four corners of Hyderabad. 50 percent of the services will be used as general consultancy and 50 percent services on par with NIMS in the hybrid system.
  • Rs.1,800 crore to develop 2000 bed capacity in the NIMS. Another humane approach is that beedi contractors will be provided pensions. Warangal is the second biggest city in Telangana state. The Centre is delaying the establishment of the Airport. State cabinet approved to allot 253 acres for the airport for civil aviation needs.
  • Hyderabad city is expanding fast. The international airport in Hyderabad is catering the needs of 2.5 crore air passengers every year. Second airport is proposed. Cabinet discussed the development of a second airport at Hakimpet defence airport like in Pune and Goa defence owned airport used for civil aviation. The Hakimpet station will function in a hybrid system. This issue will be taken up with the Defence ministry.
  • Cabinet gives nod to give land to set up South India centre for Kapu community which helps for Kapu, Balija, Onatari etc in Hyderabad.
  • Another 8 medical colleges will be set up in the district. Telangana will be the first state in India to have one medical college in each district
  • The Cabinet paid homage to the people who died in floods. The Cabinet extended gratitude to all ministers for working hard during the heavy rains. Alerted all districts to heavy rains and Infectious diseases and the supply of safe drinking water.
  • Collectors are requested to send details of the crop damages. Collectors will go to the field and get information to help the affected farmers.
