CM handed over GO to the VRA JAC leaders

​Towards fulfilling the promise of regularization of services of VRAs and absorbing them as government employees with fixed pay scales, Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao today (Monday) handed over a copy of Government Order (GO) to the VRA JAC leaders in the Secretariat. The VRAs have been working as Village Assistants for decades in the villages.

The VRAs, who received the order from the hands of CM KCR, get emotional. They expressed delight over bringing light to their lives and praised CM KCR as a great leader. They were discriminated and never cared for generations. CM KCR adopted a humane approach and solved their plights, VRAs said.

They also expressed gratitude to Municipal Department Minister Sri  K. Taraka Rama Rao for resolving their long pending issues and it is a big occasion their services are regularized on KTR’s birthday through a government order. The meeting hall reverberated with a slogan of ‘Long Live KCR’.

The VRA JAC leaders said that the JAC will hold a big meeting with their families to extend their gratitude to CM KCR. A large number of VRAs including VRA JAC leaders Chairman Rajaiah, Co-Chairman Ramesh Bahadur, Secretary General Dade Miya, Vijay, Ravi and Sridhar are among those who received orders from the hands of CM KCR at Pragathi Bhavan.

Speaking on this occasion, CM KCR said that the state government is committed to the welfare of government employees. The government already scrapped the VRO system. The existing VRA system is the remnant of the Feudal era in the villages, the CM said that the government regularized the VRAs as government employees with pay scales.

The CM reiterated that the government resolved to empower the low-rank workers and help them to lead a happy and dignified life with self respect.

“The VRA system has been continuing since the time of our grandfathers and it remained as a remnant of the feudal system”. For generations, the VRAs are struggling in their daily lives and are sometimes forced to beg from the farmers due to meagre salaries. Maharashtra BRS leaders also said that VRAs working in their states are the lowest-paid workers. The CM said that everyone is appreciating the government for regularizing the VRA services and congratulated all of them who will join the new jobs soon.

The Chief Minister said that 10,317 VRAs with 10th class qualifications will be inducted into Irrigation and Mission Bhagiratha departments. 2,761 Village Assistants, who completed Intermediate education, will get the status of Record Assistant and 3,680 degree holders and above education qualification will perform their duties as Junior Assistants.

CM KCR said that the state Finance department gave its approval for these posts. In another category, 3,797 VRAs, who are above 61 years of age, will be given employment to their children based on their education qualifications. The government took the decision to give employment to the kin of VRAs above 61 age considering their service to society for such a long time.

The CM said that the appointment orders will be given soon after the VRAs JAC submit the list. “If they bring their children, the government will take further action based on their educational qualifications. VRAs are henceforth pay scale employees,” the CM clarified. The Chief Minister advised the VRAs to work hard in their respective departments being allotted soon and also get promotions by completing further studies.  

The CM said that state Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Sri KT Rama Rao took the initiative to complete this process of regularization of VRAs service quickly. Hence, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and Revenue Principal Secretary Naveen Mittal have been asked to issue orders on the occasion of Sri KTR’s birthday today (Monday). The CM specially thanked the officials for issuing GO without any legal issues in the regularisation process.
