Paddy production will be increased to 4 Crore Metric Tonnes from 3 Crore Metric Tonnes soon after the completion of Palamuru Rangareddy lift project and start the operations of the already completed Gauravelli, Malkapeta, Baswapur etc projects. The agricultural development activities implemented by the state government has put the Telangana State as number one in the country by achieving the 3 crore tonnes of Paddy production. Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao reiterated that the government decided to establish Food Processing industries as part of the agriculture policy and set up more advanced Rice mills in addition to the existing mills to increase the milling capacity.
In the wake of problems created by the FCI by not procuring 1 crore 10 lakh tonnes of paddy and 4 lakh tonnes of rice stored in the state and additional paddy stocks will be added in the coming season , CM Sri KCR instructed the officials to take action towards establishing advanced mills and food processing industries and export them to ensure the farmers benefit in the coming days.
The CM said that the state government will implement agricultural policies keeping in mind the welfare of Telangana farmers. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao reiterated that while the existing rice mills continue as usual, they will take action towards establishing advanced mills and food processing industries.
The Chief Minister said that the capacity of existing rice mills in the state is only up to one million tonnes. The government wanted to set up mills for milling another two crore tonnes of paddy. The CM ordered the officials to set up advanced rice mills for food processing. The CM announced the committee to finalize procedures in this regard. Special Chief Secretary for Finance Ramakrishna Rao will lead the committee and CM Secretary Smita Sabharwal, IT Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Anil Kumar and TS IIC MD Narsimha Reddy will be the members.

On this occasion, CM Sri KCR said… ” The state government is providing investment to the farmers and continuing welfare of farmers to develop agriculture like no other state in the country . Crop yielding increased tremendously. Farmer families are happy. Further, food processing units should be set up for their welfare and rice products should be exported to other states and countries. It needs to increase the demand for Telangana rice and make profits. The government will set up new advanced mills. For this, the government formed a high-level committee to finalize the procedures and start operations and also discuss with internationally renowned companies like Satake.” The CM said that the committee will hold discussions with them from tomorrow ( Saturday ) and submit a report to the government.
