Inauguration of 9 Medical colleges

CM KCR said that Telangana is going to create a new record of establishing medical colleges in the remote districts like Mulugu, Bhupalpally and Asifabad where some people live in the forests.

The CM said that the World Health Organization warned that there are signs that viruses like Corona will attack humans in the future. In this regard, many suggestions came up to strengthen medical and healthcare system of the state. Taking up this challenge, the state is setting up medical colleges in every district. These 34 medical colleges will also function as dispensaries and provide medical services . The CM said that there is a possibility of getting good medical facilities with hundreds of beds.

“We have already achieved many successes. Harish Rao has been working dynamically since taking charge as a minister. We have achieved good results. Telangana is the only state where 22 MBBS seats are available per lakh population. No state in India has achieved this. This is what we have achieved. In 2014, there were only 17,000 beds in hospitals. There were no facilities. Today we have reached 34,000 beds. 6 more hospitals are under construction. A super specialty and multi specialty hospital in Warangal is already under construction .

Apart from Gandhi, Osmania and Nilofar hospitals in Hyderabad city, the government is building four hospitals under the name of TIMS (Telangana institute of Medical Sciences). Gachibowli, LB Nagar, Alwal and Erragadda Chest Hospitals are being constructed with 1000 beds each. Super specialty and multi specialty hospitals are being built. Nizam Orthopedic Hospital, which is famous in India, is being expanded to 4,000 beds with the addition of 2,000 beds. CM KCR, in his address reiterated that steps have been taken to increase the total number of beds in the state to 50,000.

The CM remarked “we are qualitatively developing the infrastructure in the medical field by strengthening the medical infrastructure by learning lessons from oxygen shortage during the Corona pandemic . 500 tonnes of oxygen is also being manufactured in Telangana and we are achieving self-sufficiency in that regard. 50,000 beds are being made ready as oxygen beds to face any dire situation. We are also arranging 10,000 super specialty beds.
District Medical College as well as para medical staff are also very much required. They are in good demand at state, national and international levels. All students have the opportunity to get jobs.”

Minister of Health Harish Rao was directed to set up paramedical courses along with a nursing college attached to every medical college.

CM KCR spoke about the awards that Telangana is receiving in the field of medicine at the national level. According to the NITI Aayog report, Telangana, which was at the 11th position in 2014 and has now reached the 3rd position.

The CM expressed happiness that the number of births are increasing in government hospitals. CM KCR explained that this is an indication of the increased confidence of the people in government medicine and healthcare facilities He mentioned the KCR Kit and the benefits that come with it. The CM said that these kits were introduced with the idea of freeing people from private exploitation.

CM KCR explained the philosophy behind the implementation of the KCR kit. ”It is not right to make it difficult for the women of poor families who earn their living by earning wages even when they are pregnant. CM KCR revealed the government’s vision behind the KCR kit, which is a humane aspect to compensate the poor women during their pregnancy. The state government supports them without the loss of wages.

The CM said that Amma Vodi vehicles are being arranged and pregnant women belonging to Gond Gudas, Adivasi, Banjara Tandas and villages in remote areas are being brought to PHCs. Pregnant women are taken home in the same vehicle after giving birth to ensure that they are not anaemic. Such a policy is not implemented in any state in India. The CM expressed his joy that the Telangana government is running the government with a humanitarian perspective and many such measures are being taken as a part of it, and he also said that he was very satisfied with the wonderful results that are being achieved.

Along with the KCR kit, the government also introduced nutrition kits. Many expensive foods like Ghee ( clarified butter ) and date fruits are also included in the nutrition kit.

The CM highlighted that in order to grow a healthy society and to build a strong Telangana, unborn children should be healthy and for this, strong measures should be taken from the very first stage of pregnancy. We need to understand the problem of stunting. If this stunting problem is affected by the next generation, it will take about 75 years for the society to recover. It may even take 100 years. To overcome this stunting problem, the baby needs to grow up healthy in the womb. For that, nutritional food should be provided right from the initial stage. The medical and health department is also working for this,” said the CM.

Due to the consistent efforts of the medical and health department, maternal deaths have been reduced to 43. The number of infant deaths was 39. At present we have been able to reduce it to 21. The number of deliveries in government hospitals was only 30 percent. Today, 76 percent of deliveries take place in government hospitals. More good results are to follow in the coming days. The CM said that the Government is making all the arrangements without sparing any cost.

CM KCR expressed happiness that Telangana state will create 10,000 doctors every year . This will give Telangana students the opportunity to serve not only the Telangana community but also the country of India and the international community leading to increase in employment opportunities.

CM KCR addressed the medical students through his video conference. On this occasion, the CM said,“Vaidyo narayana Hari”, and that nothing else can replace the role of medicine. This profession is sacred. Telangana doctors should become renowned and reputed in the medical community and all students should achieve great success in studies and grow up to be good doctors. The CM wished to bring a good name at the national and international level. CM KCR blessed the medical students on this occasion. The CM also expressed his congratulations. The CM assured that if there are any shortages, the government will look into them and make arrangements without any hesitation.

“Ministers, MLAs and Collectors should go to the medical colleges and examine them until they are developed into strong colleges,” the CM suggested. The Chief Minister concluded his speech by wishing everyone to be healthy and wishing everyone good luck.

The Telangana government is creating a new history in the field of medicine. This move aims to provide better healthcare to the people by preparing doctors according to World Health Organization standards. As a part of it, the Medical College and a Nursing College for paramedical staff in every district are being established. Telangana has become the number one state in the country in promoting medical education at its own expense despite the lack of cooperation from the central government.

Telangana region had only 5 medical colleges in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh state. There were medical colleges only in Osmania, Gandhi, Kakatiya, Rimz in Adilabad and Nizamabad. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao established 29 medical colleges in the span of a decade. Two medical colleges were established in the financial year 2016-17 in Mahbubnagar and Siddipet districts. A decision was taken to establish two more colleges in the financial year 2017-18. One college was established in Nalgonda and Suryapet districts. In the financial year 2022-23, CM KCR inaugurated 8 medical colleges on the same day that was nowhere else to be seen in the country.

The Medical colleges were started in Mancherial, Ramagundam, Jagityal, Wanaparthy, Nagar Kurnool, Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem areas in virtual mode. Erasing this record, medical colleges have been set up today (September 15) in Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Nirmal, Rajanna Sirisilla, Vikarabad and Jangam districts in the financial year 2023-24. 8 more medical colleges are going to start in the coming financial year 2024-25. Among them are Jogulamba Gadwala, Mulugu, Medak, Narayanapet, Warangal (Narsampeta), Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajigiri.

Telangana is top in the country in terms of medical seats:

In terms of medical seats, Telangana state has become the number one state in the country. Telangana is the only state in the country with 22 MBBS seats per lakh population. Telangana state is also a topper in terms of PG seats. Telangana stands second in the country with 8 PG seats per lakh population.

Beds in Hospitals:

The Telangana government has also made significant progress in terms of beds in hospitals. Only 17 thousand beds were available in 2014 when Telangana was formed. They also had limited facilities. There were no blankets. It was chaotic, with broken beds. The capacity in Telangana has increased to 34 thousand beds by the year 2023. The medical and health department is working with a plan to increase it to 50 thousand beds. Besides, plans are being made to make 10,000 super specialty beds available. 4,000 beds are being set up under the TIMS name, 2,000 beds will be increased to 4,000 beds in NIMS, and 2,000 beds will be set up under the Warangal Health City.

Decentralization of medical education services achieves remarkable results:

Establishment of district medical, nursing and paramedical colleges, a 100-bed hospital and a primary health center for the constituency and decentralization of services helped to improve medical infrastructure. This resulted in amazing results. In the ranks of NITI Aayog, Telangana has shown outstanding talent and has risen to the top position. Our state, which was ranked 11th in 2014, will be ranked 3rd by 2023.
